The Lake Speaks: Wildlife & Ecosystem Health

June 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for an evening exploring the species that help tell the story of Kootenay Lake’s health. From Kokanee Salmon that support much of the lake’s food web, to recovering Osprey populations, to Grizzly Bears roaming our surrounding forests, these animals can reveal important clues about the condition of our ecosystems and the habitats they depend on.

This engaging community workshop will look at what makes a species a “health indicator,” what these species can teach us about biodiversity and ecosystem change, and how conservation efforts across the region are helping protect critical habitat. We’ll also share ways you can stay informed, contribute to stewardship efforts, and help support a healthy future for the Kootenays.

Whether you’re new to these topics or already passionate about wildlife and conservation, this workshop offers an accessible and thought-provoking opportunity to learn, ask questions, and connect with others who care about the future of Kootenay Lake.
