Kootenay Lake Summit 2026: Synergy — Collaboration in Conservation

Join Friends of Kootenay Lake Stewardship Society for our annual Kootenay Lake Summit, taking place November 15, 2026, at the Prestige Lakeside Resort in Nelson.

This year’s theme, Synergy: Collaboration in Conservation, celebrates the powerful impact that partnerships can have in creating meaningful change. Kootenay Lake is connected to so many aspects of life in our region, and caring for it is something we all have a role in. By bringing together different perspectives, knowledge, skills, and experiences, we can accomplish far more than we could alone.

The Summit brings together community members, lake users, organizations, and stewards from across the Kootenay Lake watershed for an evening of connection, learning, conversation, and action.

Throughout the event, participants will have opportunities to connect with others, share the work they are already doing, learn about local stewardship initiatives, and explore new opportunities for collaboration. Interactive activities will invite you to think about your own contributions to the health of Kootenay Lake and discover how your efforts can connect with the work of others.

The evening will feature a locally catered dinner, live music, interactive activities, a video presentation, and a keynote speach from Juliet Craig, MSc, RPBio, Program Director of the Kootenay Conservation Program. Juliet will share her knowledge and experience in conservation and explore the important role that collaboration plays in creating lasting change.

Whether you are involved in conservation, a longtime lake steward, a recreational lake user, or simply someone who cares about the future of Kootenay Lake, you are invited to be part of the conversation.
