Friends of Kootenay Lake Stewardship Society has chosen a strong proponent for the Community Values Study, Compass Resource Management Ltd. is set to lead the way on this exciting new project. Compass Resource Management Ltd. (Compass) is a strategic planning and decision support firm committed to providing high quality and objective research, facilitation, and analysis on resource management projects. The bulk of our experience is in the water sector, designing and facilitating public planning processes, and leading stakeholder consultations. For this proposal, we have partnered with local consultants Michelle Laurie and Rachael Roussin, who combined have over 25 years’ experience designing and facilitating innovative community engagement initiatives primarily in and around the Kootenays.

The Community Values Study will be considered in developing future plans around the Kootenay Lake, in order to ensure that the plan meets the needs and interests of the community that will ultimately live with and support the future of a Lake Management Plan. The Kootenay Lake Community Values study will help to strengthen social, economic, and environmental well-being in the Kootenay Lake area.

The Kootenay Lake Community Values Study will provide the third and final element needed to develop a comprehensive Kootenay Lake Management Plan. The plan will allow community members and regulatory agencies to be better informed on the ecological, First Nations, and community values across federal, provincial, regional, and municipal jurisdictions.

There will be many ways for your VOICE, VALUES AND VISION to be incorporated in this new study. We will be updating information on the progress of the Community Values Study regularly.
