Many of our supporters know of or have participated in FOKLSS’s Osprey Monitoring Program. This program has allowed us to gather data about breeding Osprey  and start to develop an understanding of their behaviour and preference in nesting sites. It has been seen by our team and residents of the West Arm that this location, with it’s shallow waters and access to platforms, poles or standing dead wood, is preferred by Osprey for nesting and fishing. Therefore Nelson Hydro’s action to relocate two at risk nesting sites at Harrop Ferry landing is great news for resident Osprey.
