Young Water Speaks (YWS)

YWS is a national storytelling contest for youth ages 7-18 that connects young people with water and the environment through the art of storytelling. The best way to get your ideas out into the world is through storytelling. Register your class or youth group for Waterlution’s Young Water Speaks Youth Storytelling
Contest!

Join students from grades 3-12 and youth clubs (ages 7-18) across Canada for a creative way to explore history and culture – through water! Youth will create their own water stories and be entered in a competition to win amazing prizes and the possibility to be featured in a Travelling Storytelling Exhibit! Students will attend online workshops led by a volunteer from Waterlution’s YAB and expert storytellers.

The online workshops will guide students in generating their own story ideas inspired by water, creating their main characters, choosing a creative storytelling avenue, and creating a storyboard. The Young

Water Speaks Youth Storytelling Contest is curriculum aligned and free! The workshops are 90 minutes long (ages 7-13) or 2.5 hours (ages 14-18) focusing on water stories and leadership skills. Interested parties can register here https://waterlution.org/school-programs/.
